Boshonto Eshe Gache… (Spring is here)

February 15, 2018 Me!

I had an amazing time celebrating first day of Spring in Jessore… The whole town came to life with spring colours and music and fresh flowers everywhere..

This was my first time celebrating Pohela Falgun in Bangladesh and I absolutely loved it! I am glad I picked this time of the year to come to Bangladesh, because this is the season of festivities.

So, my day involved coming to work in the morning and I’ve shared some photos with you. I was surprised I was the only one turned up in saree. That didn’t spoil my fun though, as I was in such good mood!! Yellow always makes me happy!

The evening involved visiting different events around town. We stopped and listened to live music and watched dance performances and listened to people reciting poems. What also happened was I performed a song and three little girls danced with my song. It was nerve-racking and exciting at the same time. Performing in front of hundreds of people in middle of the city, in a open air stage with hundreds of others passing by was daunting, but an amazing experience nevertheless! Everyone came rushing towards me when I got down from the stage and congratulated me for my performance… I was blushing… 🙂 I also managed to have my own “fan club” at the event. A group of children followed me around and introduced themselves to me. Amongst them were the three little girls, Rupkotha, Mohua and ?? (sorry little girl) who danced with my song. Another little girl randomly came towards me and kissed me on my cheek and walked away… How beautiful!

We then danced in front of the stage with other songs… I wish the night lasted longer…

After the show, we went to have chotpoti at Dharmatola, then came home and watched the video recordings of the night with rest of the family members.

All in all, I loved every moment! I can’t wait till Pohela Boishakh (New Years Day) celebration!

I hope you enjoy the photos!
